Tân Uyên District Address: Uyên Hưng Town, Tân Uyên District Telephone: (0650) 656241 Fax: (0650) 656104 Chairperson: Mr. Le Hoang Minh Tân Uyên District has area of 613.44 km2 and population of 120,422 with 16 communes and 2 towns – Tân Phước Khánh and Uyên Hưng. This district borders to Đồng Nai Province to the East and locates near Biên Hòa City. In the end of 2001, area of long-term crops in this district was 27,451 ha, in there 20,909 ha of rubber, 3,251 ha of fruit trees, 2621 ha of cashew and 448 ha of coffee. Agro-forest production value reached 652 milliards VNÐ i.e. 5% more than that of 2000. In 2001, industry - small-scaled industry developed both in value and quantity of about 454.5 milliards VNÐ despite of some difficult moments in selling products.

Based on approved master plan, the District continues implementation of open policies in order to attract investors to invest in industry - small-scaled industry zones, which are being expanded to northern communes, so that annual growth rate of industry - small-scaled industry shall be 27-28%. Most capital works as planned were implemented and put into operation. Only a few of them are being built. Total value of executed works was 51.2 milliards VNÐ. There were executed 129 new rural roads with total length of 134.206 km (in there newly built: 12.531km, upgraded 121.675km)with total mobilized capital of 5,032 millions VNÐ , i.e. 167,7% of annual plan and 86,3% exceeding that of previous period last year. Total budgeting value in 2001 was 58,333 millions VNÐ, reached 101% adjusted calculation, in there new budgeting value was 23,554 millions VNÐ reached 103% adjusted calculation. Total expenses from budget in 2001 were 50,899 millions VNÐ (100% of adjusted calculation). Total implemented economic services value was 363,8 milliards VNÐ up 13% year-on-year. In general, growth rate of economies and services meets the requirements of socio-economic in the locality that takes part in development of production and enhancing living standards of the people.

In school year 2001-2002, the district had 31,598 learners going to school, up 680 pupils than that of previous school year. In there, there were 2,614 pupils in preschools, 13,864 pupils of primary schools, 10,110 – basic secondary school, 4,680 – secondary school. 100% children of 6 year old (2,058) went to 1st class.

People’s cultural movements are consolidated and enhanced. There were 19,670/24,338 households registered to be cultural households (80.82%), 45/82 hamlets (50.56%) and 78/82 organizations were recognized cultural units (96.34%).

This district has 61,950 people in working age, in which employed were 61,897; unemployed – 53; lack of jobs – 3,899 (6.30% unemployment). 21 corpses of revolutionary martyrs have been collected, recalling houses for revolutionary martyrs of Ð Base and Tân Bình have been built or repaired. 73 houses of mercy and 71 houses of affection have been built and handed over. Management Board of Hunger Eradication and Poverty Reduction, through capital sources of programs, have landed loans to 8,844 poor families with value 12.185 milliards VNÐ and 1.837 milliards VNÐ to families for avoiding poverty again. The results were that 83 poor families were reduced and now there are only 806 poor families (3.10%).
